Discover the best dog-friendly events in Copenhagen this summer, including HundeBio, Dogs' Day at Tivoli and the Museum of Illusions.

If you're looking for something a little different to do with your dog this summer, Copenhagen has some brilliant one-off events where four-legged visitors are more than welcome.

From watching a blockbuster at the cinema to exploring optical illusions or strolling through Tivoli Gardens, here are three dog-friendly experiences to add to your calendar.

1. Watch a film together at HundeBio

HundeBio at Empire Bio is back for another summer, giving dogs and their humans the chance to enjoy a trip to the cinema side by side.

The screenings are adapted to make the experience more comfortable for canine guests, with dimmed lighting, moderated sound levels and a well-ventilated auditorium. Dogs also receive their own free ticket, although spaces should be reserved in advance.

This year's remaining screenings are:

  • 27 June – Supergirl, featuring a special appearance from Krypto, Supergirl's canine companion, for photos with guests.
  • 1 August – Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
  • 29 August – Nøjsomheden (The Pleasure).

For dogs that are comfortable settling down in new environments, it's one of the most unique outings you'll find anywhere in Denmark.

2. Bring your dog to the Museum of Illusions

One of Copenhagen's newest dog-friendly events is taking place at the Museum of Illusions, where selected summer Sundays are dedicated to canine visitors.

The museum opens special dog-friendly sessions, allowing you to explore more than 70 interactive exhibits with your dog by your side, snap some hilarious photos and enjoy treats and refreshments designed for both species. Dogs don't need their own ticket, but booking is required and they're expected to be calm around people and other dogs.

If you missed the earlier dates, there are still two opportunities left:

  • 21 June
  • 5 July

With upside-down rooms, mirrors and mind-bending installations, it's guaranteed to produce some unforgettable photos for your camera roll.

3. Experience Dogs' Day at Tivoli

For one special day each year, Tivoli Gardens welcomes dogs through its gates for Dogs' Day, transforming one of Copenhagen's most iconic attractions into a celebration of canine companions.

It's a rare opportunity to wander the historic gardens with your dog, meet fellow owners and enjoy activities organised especially for four-legged visitors. As dogs are normally not permitted inside Tivoli, the event has become a favourite among locals looking for a memorable day out.

If you've ever wanted a photo of your dog in front of Tivoli's famous gardens and attractions, this is the day to make it happen.

Make a day of it

These events are the perfect excuse to discover even more of Copenhagen with your dog. If you're heading to HundeBio at Empire Bio, why not stop for a coffee, lunch or dinner at one of the city's many dog-friendly cafés, bars or restaurants before or after the screening? Likewise, a visit to the Museum of Illusions or Dogs' Day at Tivoli pairs perfectly with a leisurely stroll and a bite to eat nearby.

Before you head out

As always, think about whether your dog will genuinely enjoy the experience. Busy venues can be overwhelming, so these events are best suited to dogs that are comfortable around crowds and unfamiliar sights and sounds.

Bring water, treats and poo bags, keep your dog on a lead where required, and don't be afraid to leave early if they're showing signs of stress.
