The world's most liveable city? We walk it daily
Copenhagen has just been named the world's most liveable city, but for those of us who walk it daily, that's hardly news.
So, it's official: Copenhagen is the most liveable city in the world. Not that we needed a global index to tell us why we like it here, but it's still nice to have your hunch confirmed by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
After three years in second place, Copenhagen has quietly overtaken Vienna, topping the EIU's 2025 Global Liveability Index with perfect scores for stability, education and infrastructure.
According to the ranking, it's about public services, safety and smooth transport. According to us, it might also have something to do with the dog hooks outside every bageri, the way strangers smile when your dog sits politely at a crossing, and the fact that Ørstedsparken still feels peaceful, even when the swans are having a dramatic morning.
Liveability, as far as we're concerned, has a lot to do with lead etiquette, strong coffee, and whether you can make it from your flat to the park without crossing more than two bike lanes. Copenhagen gets a gold star for all three.
